Painting Services Offered By Doug's So Cal Painting

We Replace Termite Damaged Wood

Wood, in any home, is the most vulnerable to termite infestations and other wood-destroying organisms.

If termites or any other wood-destroying organism invades your home, we can remove and eliminate the termite-damaged wood and replace it with new wood and incorporate it into the scope of your job.

We then will put a protective layer of primer and paint throughout to ensure that you have the best protection overall.

Statistically, termites destroy homes all over America every year, calculating in the billions of dollars.

Unfortunately, there's no way of totally stopping these pesky eaters, but there are ways to slow down these wood-destroying machines.

Painting does not stop a termite infestation, but paint can seal and protect your home's wood against these wood-destroying invaders.

Painting any part of your home can put a glistening shield that makes all the difference to guard against these airborne bugs.

termite damage

Business owners and homeowners find the other type of termite that doesn't fly but lives beneath the earth's surface. This eating machine is called the Subterranean Termite.

This intelligent attacker will inflict damage by channeling up from underneath the foundation to the structure with mud tubes, causing unimaginable damage.

If a wood foundation is compromised or rotted, it makes it easier for these colonies to feast on the exposed wood (cellulose) of your home or business.

Suppose you ask yourself, "how does this happen?" Traditional dry-wood termites (fly) swarm after the first rain of a warm spring day. Drywood Termites can invade in the thousands and attack any home or industrial wood structure. Subterranean termites build mass communities beneath the surface of the earth.

Both termites mentioned have a neverending need to eat! They feed and multiply forever. Drywood termites and subterranean termites destroy wood from the inside out. The unsuspecting business owner or homeowner generally doesn't know there's a problem until it's too late.

Steps Taken:

  1. Remove aluminum stripping at the top of the shelf.

  3. Measure and cut drywall to fit.

  4. Tape the new drywall, add mud, sand, and add paint primer.

  5. Add two coats of desired paint color.

Concrete Painting

When our customer bought this previously owned home, she knew she wanted to update the backyard BBQ area and add her personal touch.

She did not like the color of the countertop that was there.

She knew it did not fit her personality.

So our painting crew stripped off all of the old varnish and paint and applied concrete paint that matched the wall underneath her window.

We color-matched her color by taking a small sample of the paint in the window area.

Side Note: Color matching paint is an easy step vital to any successful painting project.

Mold, Mildew & Wood Rot

Do you have constant moisture sitting on exposed wood or stucco surfaces?

This problem creates an environment where mold and mildew will thrive.

Moisture slowly deteriorates the wood surfaces resulting in weak or softwood, typically known as "Wood Rot" or "Dry Rot."

When it becomes time to paint your home, this is a great time to address the issue and fix the problem.

Three primary issues are causing this problem:

  1. Termites

  2. Fungus

  3. Wood Rot/Dry Rot

If termites are present, the wood from this area can be treated or replaced. If it is a minor fungus, treatment may fix your problem.

But, if it is dry rot, it would be best to replace the wood in most cases.

dry rot

If localized treatments can be used on any of the outside surfaces, then that's great! But, if the wood is compromised, then repairs will need to occur before we can paint.

If any part of the outer structure has softwood, otherwise known as "Wood Rot" or "Dry Rot," the wood surface can no longer be used. If this occurs, the wood will have to be eliminated, and new wood will be used in its place.

Once mold and mildew take hold of a wood surface, it's almost near impossible to fix.

Painting the structure of a home can seal the wood from the harsh elements. Putting a protective layer of paint on your home makes it harder for mold, mildew, and dry rot to set in.
